The old aphorism that “we are what we eat” is still very much in vogue today. When you consume balanced diets, that is, foods that contain all the necessary nutrients in appropriate quantities or proportions required for enjoying great health, you are positioning your body for great immunity.

In essence, a balanced diet must contain all the seven classes of foods, such as:

  1. Carbohydrates: For examples, rice, starches, sugars, grains etc.
  2. Proteins: For examples, Eggs, chicken, fish, dairy foods.
  3. Minerals: For examples, Minerals such as calcium, iron, sodium, potassium, iodine, magnesium can be obtained from food sources.
  4. Fats and Oils: For examples, cooking oils or fat from meat and plants.
  5. Vitamins: For examples, we can get vitamins from vegetables, fruits, etc. These vitamins include Vitamin A, C, D etc.
  6. Water: More than 70% of human body consists of water. This is why people must drink water in reasonable quantity per day to hydrate their bodies.
  7. Dietary Fiber: For examples, dietary fiber can be obtained from wheat, flour, etc.

You are doing yourself a lot of favor when you eat balanced diets and stay healthy.
